Phraktal’s first album, “Why 1 Is One and 2 is Two”, is a curious title for a captivating musical journey. Five years after its release in March 2015, we are thrilled to present the Remix edition.
This edition features a variety of remixes, from the deep dub techno vibes of Roland Klinkenberg’s System Error, which Sam Paganini included in his Mixmag compilation, to the organic house groove of Orlando Voorn’s Transfer. Orlando Voorn has just secured his next release on the legendary German label Kompakt, which we have showcased many times on our website and podcast on Digitally Imported:

Stephen Lopkin’s remix of Resonance, a collaboration with Oud!n13, is a sci-fi-inspired electronica masterpiece that will blow your mind.
Barry Jamieson’s remix of Hanging around corners and Ben Shaw’s tech-house gem of Mind Shapes both reached the Beatport Top 10 in 2017 on Iconyc Music and are featured in the middle of this compilation.
Phraktal’s original production style gave rise to a remix album that is rich in diversity and intrigue.
The album ends with a bang with Astronivo’s unreleased remix of Hanging Around Corners, which focuses on the breaks/electro percussion and leaves out most of the melody, and XXII Ely, which was brilliantly reworked by Irish producers Neil Browne and Full Funktion. That mix got rave reviews from Eats Everything at many festivals across Europe and adds a touch of old-school Detroit Techno House flavour. The final track is Laurent Maldos’ 303-infused monster mix of Transfer, a French Techno masterclass.
